Like each of my two previous pregnancies, I experienced prodromal labor. Now, every piece of information about prodromal labor I’ve seen floating around Pinterest or other corners of the internet likens it to “false labor” or “practice labor.

Wut. No.

This shit is real-deal, dilating-my-cervix labor. And I typically have it for the 6 weeks/ two months leading up to birth. Did I exaggerate the pain once or twice to get out of bath time duty? Sure did. But I was eight months pregnant, so who is going to come for me?

Leading up to my estimated due date, I opted out of cervical exams. For anyone who doesn’t know, your doctor or midwife will typically start doing cervical exams at 36 weeks. I have never been less than four inches dilated when being checked. There’s nothing to say I’m not walking around at a four right now. Who knows? I’m not checking.
